Who am I?

My name is Ian MacLeod and I am a post-bachelor degree seeking student pursuing computer science at Mary Washington University. I’ve lived in Fredericksburg Virginia my entire life and hope to one day be a developer here in the city.

I have a wonderful dad, two sisters, and a brother who inspired me to become a programmer. I also have two cats, Jet (the brother) and Suki (the sister)!

My Interests

One of the things I love to do is to code! I started learning back in 2018 teaching myself basic Python. I realized I loved it so much that I decided to pursue a career in it. I got into Mary Washington and the rest is history!

Another interest of mine is simply being active. I love to play soccer and go to the gym. I also love running! I plan to enter a marathon race sometime in the near future!

I love to spend time with family and friends. Spending time around our fire pit in the summer or watching a movie at night with the family is something I always look forward to.

Education

I graduated from Stafford High School and went straight to the College of William and Mary where I studied history between 2013 and 2017. However, after serious consideration I re-enrolled into university shortly after in 2019 to study computer science here at Mary Washington. I hope to graduate next May!

Current Job

I currently work full time as an aquatics manager for our local YMCA! I am in charge of scheduling lifeguards, ordering pool chemicals, measuring pool chemistry, and ensuring property safety in and around the pool! I have worked there since 2016, and since then I’ve been able to go from being a lifeguard to manager of the entire aquatics facility!
